The engine rebuild shall begun

Isn't the turbo modified for an other wheel perhaps?? Dunno?

Otherwise, how come this part is so much damaged that no boost is created? Very strange.

I think you'd need to find someone with a popped turbo to get the hot side from. Worst case get an upgraded turbo from Nixspeed?

That was my initial question to the turbo guy when he said that it's enlarged... he said no, which I still suspect somehow.

Browsing through the internet, I've found Mambatek's exhaust housing, which fits my needs, hopefully. They usually have good reviews. Well, I don't have a choice but to order in the following days if the turbo guy can't do anything more (currently waiting for an answer from his supplier).

Now, mysteries and curiosity are at their peak again. I've taken some pics of the inner part of the exhaust side of the turbo. Take a look at them:

As you can see, there's basically long scratches, which the blade of the utility knife sits well into. Also, in the outer edges there are lots of "cracked" housing or lining. I don't know how this would affect the boost or whether this has been modified to fit larger wheel. I don't know how to measure it or where to measure it to confirm my assumption.

What's even more interesting is the number "74020" stamped on it. Take a look:

In Toyota EPC, the part number is 17201-74030, according to my car's VIN.

What's going on here? I've read somewhere in MR2OC that 74020 is twin entry Ceramic CT26; however, I've read that it's only for JDM. Is that information accurate? What part number have you got?

By the way, we've got the same thing as this fellow member here in alltrac.

After over 2 months of waving around, forth and back, finally picked up the silicone hose kits.

Seems good quality. Now I can prepare to install the remaining parts, except the turbo which I'm waiting to be repaired.

It is slowly coming to a complete assembly. Latest update:

Stoney Racing's hose kit majorly fits (except heater core matrix; these can be installed as well; however, a little tweak is needed), even though it is sold as only for RHD models. I've decided to go with OE HFH for (maybe) better heat insulation and pain prevention in the future.

By the way, I've removed the T-VIS butterflies—just unscrewed the plates and removed them. Hopefully I won't/don't have to remove the shaft as well, I wonder?

After 10 months, turbo is finally back.

Now, what's all due is to clean (and paint, if needed) parts, brackets, stays, et cetera.

I've installed PS pump as well. Had to remove pulley first since it didn't come with a pulley.

What's strange here, the LARES brand for the PS pump (new, not reman) had threads in a line, where the original OE pump didn't. The bolt couldn't fit, so I had to drill/remove the threads. Other than that, it's all well.

The process is slow, although almost steady. Lots of brackets of different parts such as PS pump stay are covered in sludge and oil, so I'm being careful to clean them and install. It takes some time, but it looks good in the end.
Stay tuned, more pics to come!

I was able to work for a few hours today. Pic dump below.

Engine after turbocharger is installed along with water and oil lines, as well as catalytic converter. It was a bit hard to install the catalytic converter when the oil cooler bracket is already installed. For future wanderers, it's best to install the catalytic converter before you install the oil cooler.

Engine sitting next to the transmission & transfer case. I had to scrape off the dirt of the transmission and clean it.

And one of my favorite pictures of the turbo:

Will proceed with the transmission and the engine mount stay. Afterwards, I'm waiting for the vacuum/breather hose to come, then, finally, installing the engine on the car.
