Just got my first all trac, and I'm making my first post! Had an '87 GT-S, and got kind of hooked on celicas. So I found this deal and pounced on it. $350! Hopefully going to bring her back to a nice stock-ish condition before any modifications, which should stay fairly minor.

Yeah it's pretty rough, but I didn't want to see the motor go somewhere and the body get junked. It runs really well, actually. A vaccum leak somewhere near the TB is all I can tell right now. Main problem is a broken driveline. Won't get to rip the car apart until late August to diagnose it unfortunately.

It was, but was also for sale locally. A buddy of mine that lives in Marblehead actually told me about it. I'm thinking more along the lines of spring, I'm taking my time to do things right :D

Yeah, I remember seeing that on e-bay. If I was in that area I would have jumped on it myself! $350 is an awesome deal I think. As long as you got the time you can bring her back mos def.!

Get a gallon of the castrol super clean degreaser, the purple stuff, and take it to that engine bay. Works wonders I tell you.

Good luck fixing it up, the body looks worse than it probably is.

PB blaster will be your best friend. Get some. Use it. You will thank me.

Sorry Adam, hope there are no hard feelings!

It is a lot of rust, but it's surface. From the looks of it I shouldn't really need to bondo, if I can find a front end. Thanks for the cleaner recommendations, I'll need them!

If you have a vac leak I would check the boots that connect the turbo with the air flow meter, espesially under side where the oil sits. The accordian part of the rubber boot was ripped on mine, and if they are bad I have all of them in good shape for sale. :p

oh god. i just had flash visions of my all-trac looking like that (mine is exactly the same, but with 64k miles on it and brand damned new). my 91 GT looked like that after i got done with it.

good save. restore it.

Ripped the front end apart, the frame's pretty bent mid engine bay and forward, but should be ok again with a little work. After I did all of that, I put the front end on jackstands to figure out what wheels were still connected. Front passenger spun smoothly, front driver made a nasty sound. Grabbed the axle, and it had a ton of play in it. Got underneith, and it's disconnected from the tranny! Well there's why it won't move... I guess the frame's bent enough to allow the axle to come out from time to time. I'm going to put it back in just to be able to drive it onto a trailer when it goes to get the frame put back into shape.

...the ugly. This guy was a nut. There was a remote radar detector, minus the display and dectector components, but with all of the wiring in place as well as the huge ass control box. There was also a HUGE siren, a vibration sensor, and general alarm stuff spliced into everything and run EVERYWHERE. The main harness must be so comprimised with all of the splices that were in it. There was also a mystery clear box that was duct taped to an air vent behind the dash, also spliced in, which I have no idea what purpose it served. He cut holes in the otherwise perfect door panels for 6.5" pioneer 2-way speakers. There was an entire harness running to the back of the car on the passenger side which was just cut. Traced it back to the radio area, and wasn't connected to anything. Since I'm not putting stereo in, I just took it out. Still...how nuts to just cut a whole bundle and leave it there. Tons of other nonsense I'm in the middle of working out. Long way to go.

It moves woot woot if I fix the vaccum leak and probably give her a tuneup it should fix the hesitation problem down low. Once it gets into boost it's nice. :D Boost gauge jumps from "-4" to about 8 all of the sudden, wierd.

350 is a good deal. another good deal was mine- $400.00 for a perfectly good st165 body w/a blown engine. no rust or bents on the body. just a few dings here n there. all in all, have fun with your new toy.
